Introduction: To be qualified to teach the four courses in the 21st Century e-Teacher initiative, Facilitator candidates who have demonstrated advanced skills can apply to waive the requirement to achieve certification (successful completion of all 4 courses offered through a credential granting institution) and participate in the Facilitator Training Program.. The FT-TP consists of six-parts, completion of a pre-assessment survey, three 90-minute synchronous webinars, an abbreviated version of Course 4-Online Facilitation of Professional Development and an independent review of all course materials. To be considered for the FT-TP eligible Facilitator candidates should possess:
• a terminal degree,
• prior online course experience (teaching or participant), and;
• demonstrate their skills as a 21st Century e-Teacher (see the Six Principles of 21st Century e-Teaching)
Background: The objective of course facilitation is to:
• Serve as primary point of contact and assist participants in following course policies & procedures
• Support participants’ success developing their 21st century skills as defined in the course syllabus
• Build and nurture an active and substantive learning community through activities, discussions and assignments
• Provide technical and subject matter assistance as needed and interface with L-T Help Desk
Components:
Pre-Assessment Survey – Using the same survey tool participants in the 21st Century e-Teacher initiative use for their skills pre-assessment (Profiler Pro), Facilitator candidates will register and complete the online survey that seeks to identify knowledge, skills and abilities that will assist them in their facilitation duties. Facilitator candidates’ responses will be shared with other potential candidates and program administrators to establish training priorities and build a peer support platform. (30-minutes)

Course 4 Accelerated Participation - A two-week asynchronous accelerated work-through version of Course 4. Facilitator candidates will be expected to review all course materials, participate in two discussion forums and customize their Course 1 Shell. (~5-Hours)
Independent Review of Course Materials:
Facilitator candidates must be familiar with all learner resources, including online text, videos, readings, discussion forums and assignments. Facilitators will be responsible for modifying course materials on an as-needed basis to comply with specific school division requirements and/or participant needs. (~6 –Hours)
Completion of FT-TP:
Facilitator candidates who successfully complete all components of the FT-AP will be certified to lead sections of 21st Century e-Teacher instruction. As part of receiving certification and a teaching assignment is to submit broken links, new resources appropriate to course content and suggestions for improving course design, user experience.
