When developing the 21st Century e-Teacher initiative we were committed to building on scientifically- based research. One area of particular emphasis was on the role of Student engagement. There is a growing body of research that looks at when students will make a psychological investment in learning, they try harder to learn. They take pride not simply in reaching the formal indicators of success (grades), but in understanding the material and incorporating or internalizing it in their lives.

Preparing teachers to succeed with 21st century learners

21st Century e-Teacher is the result of nearly a decade long commitment to improve student achievement

by harnessing the power technology holds when used effectively. Billions of dollars have been sent on

getting more and newer technologies into the classroom, yet its impact on how students were taught and

what they learned has been inconclusive.

The team behind LearniT-TeachiT, which included scores of educators, nationally known instructional leaders, corporate professionals and many others have been hard at work designing an approach that does more than just train teachers how to use technology.

21st Century e-Teacher is a holistic approach that aims to support teachers in developing, applying and growing their abilities to increase student engagement in their learning, and ultimately, their academic success. throughout the process of building their new skils, participants model best practices, collaboratively create new 'ready to use' instructional and professional development resources and thrive in a sustainable professional learning community with their peers.

Built on scientifically-based research and the principles that result in actual results, 21st Century e-Teacher is a process that transforms how participating educators will approach teaching, their ongoing professional growth and the goal of preparing our next generation for success in school, work and life.
